We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all back to school and to wish you and your families a healthy and happy 2017.
The pace of life in school rarely slows down and so it has been a hectic couple of weeks since we’ve returned after the Christmas break. We would like to thank you sincerely for your support of the Christmas drama and also for donating gifts towards the hampers and for buying the tickets. Everything was a great success!
We would like to bring the following to your attention:
- Supervision of students at Scoil Éanna begins each morning at 9.05a.m. Some children are dropped off before this and the Board of Management would like to remind you that these children remain un-supervised until 9.05a.m. We would ask you to ensure that your children arrive as close to the start of supervision time as possible. School begins formally at 9.15a.m. School finishes for infants at 2.00p.m. and for all other classes at 3.00p.m. at which time they should be collected or travel home by whatever means you have arranged.
- We are very pleased to note the level of co-operation with the policy of collecting children at the bottom of the hill at 3p.m. and thank you sincerely for this. This is entirely aimed at ensuring every child at the school is safe while on school grounds.
- We would also like to commend your diligence with regard to the school uniform and to remind you that runners and school tracksuit bottoms should only be worn on PE days.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week and we will celebrate Grandparents’ Day here in Scoil Éanna on Thursday 2nd February at 11.15a.m. All are welcome to join us – parents, grandparents, grandaunts and granduncles or older friends or neighbours who play a significant role in the children’s lives.
Enrolment for September 2017 will take place in the school office on 7th, 8th and 9th February from 1 o’clock to 3 o’clock each day. If these times do not suit, parents should telephone Gráinne on 0429741172 to make alternative arrangements. We will host an open day in June when parents and children may visit the school together. Please pass on this information to anyone you know, who is not already a parent in the school, and who has a child for school in September.
As you will be aware the children are all benefitting from Gymnastics coaching here in school. This is proving to be challenging for some, but all are deriving great enjoyment, flexibility and expertise from the various activities! It would not be possible to facilitate this without the generous financial support of the Parents’ Association and we are very grateful for their assistance in this regard.
Finally I would like to give you advance notice of a school closure on 13th March 2017 – the teachers will be attending a training day for the new Primary Language Curriculum and the children will have no school that day.
