We had a very exciting day celebrating St. Enda’s Day here in Scoil Éanna on Thursday 19th March. As part of the celebration the children invited parents, grandparents and other family members to join us for the afternoon. We were also joined by members of the Board of Management and Nelius and Mary Flynn.
The highlight of the day was the unveiling of our new painting of St. Enda. This was a very generous gift to the school from the Chair of the BOM, Fr. La Flynn, and was painted by local artist Nelius Flynn.
The day started off with the children from Rang 6 telling us the story of St. Enda. This was followed by the children from Rang 5 giving all present an explanation of the various elements of the painting. Fr. La then led a short prayer service and blessing.
Afterwards everyone was treated to a cup of tea and some lovely home baked items which were prepared and served by members of the Parents’ Association. Children and adults were presented with bookmarks which feature a copy of the painting and Nelius was inundated with requests for his autograph!
